In 1963, Walter Sowa brought his family from Poland to Chicago. Earning less than $5 per day, he decided the best way to make the American Dream come true was to open a business of his own. That dream became a reality in 1976 when he opened his first shop, a storefront in a strip mall. 

 

At 13 years old, his son Joe began working alongside his father Walter as "the kid who swept the floor" at the end of the day. He learned the ins and outs of the business, helping expand with sales techniques learned from Dale Carnegie. He decided to pursue interests in college, eventually graduating from Illinois State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Finance.
